Spring has sprung and along with the warmer temperatures, its brought us higher levels of humidity and sun exposure. You may be an expert on how to take care of your skin during the cold, windy months of winter, but do you know how to transition your routine to spring?

We’ve put together our top 5 tips to help you switch up your routine and give your skin the nourishment it needs as we say goodbye to winter.

Use Products With Antioxidants

Increased sun exposure and interactions with free radicals can lead to pesky sunspots that don’t disappear so easily. Using products that contain antioxidants should be a part of your routine year-round, but they’re especially important during the warmer months of the year. Adding our Vitamin C Serum to your everyday routine can help neutralize free radicals and limit sun damage from exposure to harmful UV rays.

“I have been using EB5 products for over 30 years. They work for my skin which can be sensitive. I recently added the serums to my daily routine and noticed a lessening in dark spots that had appeared on my face. At 72 I often get compliments on my skin. Age happens but we can ease some effects!” - Barbara

Taking the time to clean and replace your sponges, brushes, washcloths and applicators can play a huge role in keeping your skin clean and increasing the effectiveness of the skincare products you’re using. Dirty sponges and brushes are playgrounds for bacteria and can cause issues with your skin’s elasticity and radiance. This should be done way more often than just during season changes, but if you haven’t taken the time to refresh your applicators lately, spring is the perfect time to start.

Similarly, your skincare products expire. As time goes on, they lose their potency and effectiveness, so spring cleaning products that need to be replaced or you haven’t used in a while is a great way to get the season started right.

Tone, Tone, Tone

Toners are used to close open pores in your skin. In spring and summer, the skin tends to produce a lot of oil that accumulates in open pores, which can result in acne. High humidity levels only accelerate this process, so keeping a hydrating toner on you throughout the day can help tighten your skin and aid it in retaining moisture while helping prevent excess oils and acne.

Bonus tip: Applying our Anti-Aging Toner morning and night helps heal and hydrate your skin while firming it throughout the day and night.

SPF

You should wear SPF year-round, but as the weather becomes warmer, odds are you’re going to be spending a lot more time outside. Wearing a minimum of 30 SPF everyday is key to keeping your skin healthy and safe from harsh UV rays as you soak up the sun!

Exfoliate

While you might not have been exfoliating as much in the winter for fear of drying out your skin, it’s essential in the spring and summer. By stripping away dead skin cells, exfoliators prep your skin for that dewy, spring glow. With that in mind, you don’t want to overdo it with exfoliating. The line between glowing, bright skin and red, irritated skin from over exfoliation is thin. Some exfoliators can be harsh on skin, especially sensitive skin, but using something gentle like our Exfoliating AHA Cleansing Lotion can be a great way to incorporate exfoliating into your routine while cleansing.
